Babymoon in Miami!

We felt so lucky to get to take 5 days over Thanksgiving weekend to spend in Miami Florida on our Babymoon.  5 days just for the two of us before the baby comes!  The weather was in the upper 70s with a steady breeze.  It was nice to hang up our winter coats for 5 days!  Here's some highlights of our trip.

The flight went really smoothly and I was pretty comfortable despite that big bump. : )
Baby's first flight!

Our first family vacation.

We stayed at Fontainbleau on Miami Beach, just north of the south beach area.

Here's a peek inside our room.  I loved it!

We had an oceanside view and we got upgraded to a suite with a kitchenette.

On our first trip to south beach, we ate at a famous diner that reminded me of Mikey's diner here but a bit bigger.  It was Thanksgiving, but I resisted the urge to order turkey. : -)

We did a lot of walking.  There was a boardwalk and the beach just behind the hotel.  Here's some photos of us enjoying some long walks.

Oh and I found this!  Pineapple Fanta!  Yummy.  This was my "cocktail" for the weekend.  We had a picnic on the beach the last day to finish of all our leftovers before the flight.

Bonus:  Here's a super cool clock that they had in the lobby of the hotel.  It's hard to see in the video but the face of the clock made it look like there was a man inside continually wiping and rewriting the hands on the clock as the time changed.  So cool!

baby's first concert

Baby can hear us now so Adrien and I decided to give the little one a mini concert. On the playlist? Debussy's Clair de Lune, piano concert by Satie, Chopin, Bach... so far baby likes Satie and Bach best. :-)

A Very Preggo Halloween

I was so excited to be pregnant at Halloween and fretted that my belly wouldn't be big enough to do a really funny tummy costume but it got there just in time.  Here's some photos of Adrien and I's couple costume.  It was Adrien's idea and I thought it was particularly fitting seeing as how I couldn't drink this year. (I hope no one is offended by our costume choices.)

Have you guessed yet?  We are two things that go together.

There's a hint on the back of my costume.

I know, I'm so sexy in a mustache!  And Adrien makes a lovely lady!  Figured it out yet?

We're a bloody mary and a beer chaser!

I also got to wear this during pumpkin carving and handing out Halloween treats:

And here's baby in our fortune telling costume.
Off to a fortune telling gig at Woodhill Country Club:

The costume fits just a little bit differently this year. ; -)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Second Ultrasound- 20 weeks

We were super excited for this dr. visit!  Ready to see the baby again, a little bigger and possibly in 3D!  I drank a bunch of water before hand, as instructed, but baby was being chill and stubborn.  Mostly with back to ultrasound wand where we got a clear view of the spine, kidneys, little beating heart, stomach, and bladder.

We also saw the arm and leg bones.  Everything looked great but the Tech was having a hard time finishing her measurements because she needed a side view for some and a frontal view for the 3D (or 4D, as she called it, because it was a live monitor feed).

She had me lie on my side for a bit, go to the bathroom, lie on the other side and drink a juice box but baby still wasn't turning.  So she had me go to the bathroom again and "really shake things up" a bit.  So, in the privacy of the clinic's bathroom, I shook my tummy, did jumping jacks, some twist and shout moves, jumping in place and finally a little downward dog yoga posing.  I must have been making a bunch of noise with my shoes on the tile floor while doing jumping jacks because there was a nurse outside the bathroom door waiting for someone else who gave me a small smile and asked how I was doing.  I must have been flushed in the face by then.  : -) But it worked!  The baby had moved and the rest went smoothly.

The 4D video was awesome!  We could see them open and close their mouth.  The Tech said the image was not super lear, especially around the eyes because there wasn't a lot of fluid in front of the baby but I thought it was perfect.  Youcan see the baby's elbows under their chin since they had their hands behind their neck.  We could see the umbilical cord clutched near their belly too.  Really neat!

Weekly Love from Daddy-To-Be

Just wanted to remember how great Adrien was to bring me flowers every week (at least during farmer's market time) during my pregnancy.  What a great guy!  I love getting flowers and often asked  for them throughout the year.  It's wonderful to see these on the kitchen table every day when I wake up!

I didn't take a picture of all of them but here's a few for me to look back on:

Spreading the News

At first it seemed overwhelming to have to tell all my family and friends in a special way, that we were going to be parents!  Did I have to phone everyone one by one?  Let people find out on Facebook?  I polled a couple mommy friends and they confirmed that whatever I did, I was sure to annoy or insult someone.  So with that in mind, and a whole lot of ideas from Pinterest, we started to spread the word.  Order doesn't really matter, what mattered to me was having fun with it.  We are toward the end of the friends and family list now.  Almost done, once it's on Facebook, you'll know that most people I wanted to tell personally, I did.

Here's some highlights:

The Family:

Tried to make it special with goody bags and such.  Also snapped some great surprised face shots!

"Hey mom, thanks for coming over to help me fill out this family medical history.
I want to make sure I do it well because...I'M PREGNANT!"

"The best sisters get promoted to AUNT"

"You're o"fish"ally going to have a grand baby!"

Friends:

I used a variety of printable ideas from Pinterest.  Beer tags, candy notes, mad libs...

"I had a lot of fun picking out the perfect beer to  go with this note: Fatty Boombalatty!"

Inspirations and Printables from Pinterest:

I did this mad lib for a friend without telling the title.  Then I read to them it with their name in the first slot and waited for them to take the hint. ;-)

This one was my favorite.  I love giving and getting candy!

I made a similar tag to attach to a box of tea for another friend.

Swedish fish are delicious!  Also, "You are o"Fish"ally going to be an Aunt.
